Homeschooling families and any interested folks are invited to a tour and printing activity at Philothea Letterpress in Santa Paula.
Wed. Jan 26 1-2:30
Sat. Jan 29 10-11:30
$5 per student or family
View vintage printing presses and the metal type and other tools of the print shop. A short presentation about printing technology and history will be given and each guest will be able to operate a printing press and print a greeting card to take home. It's fascinating to see the laborious and intricate craft that was used to print all books, magazines and newspapers just 60 years ago!
Please RSVP to Fiona at lettresauvage@gmail.com or 805-794-0167. Space is limited, but alternate dates and appointments can be arranged.
Philothea Letterpress offers classes for all ages. The field trip is a good opportunity to see the facility, ask questions, and see if you're interested in taking a letterpress or bookmaking class. Upcoming classes include St. Valentine's Day card making and origami for homeschoolers and business card and stationery making for all ages.
We're definitely interested, Fiona, but I'll have to talk to everyone and see what works best with regard to the days. Or is one workshop already pretty much full? By the way, I would "lose" the part of your profile that gives your astrological sign. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's funny, I never noticed that it said sagitarius! Wednesday is full, Saturday still has space and I'll be posting some classes soon. Thanks for commenting!!
ReplyDeleteHi Fiona! I live in northern Santa Barbara County, am educating my own children and am involved in a couple of homeschool groups up this way. I wonder if you'd be willing to give another homeschool group a tour, and, if so, where precisely your print shop is located. :) You can find my contact information on my book site (BestFamilyAdventures.com)
